Lagavulin 16 YO is so beloved worldwide because it is powerful yet very drinkable peat. It will greet you with a distinct nose of the sea that transports you directly to the southern coast of Islay. Rocks in the surf, foam on the waves, seaweed. All of this is perfectly combined with caramel, charred wood, vanilla, dried fruits, and orange marmalade. And of course, the typical smokiness characteristic of Lagavulin “caresses” the taste buds and gives this malt warmth and weight.
