After almost two decades in which the Speyside distillery produced only malts sold to other brands for their blends, it decided to release a malt under its own name again. Tamnavulin Double Cask is the first in a series of such whiskies. It is matured in American oak casks and then finished in sherry casks. The result is a pleasantly fruity whisky, as one might expect from this cask combination. Since its creation, it has managed to win several medals in various competitions, which is a good testimony for the product and the distillery.

Its aroma is of chocolate mousse, stewed apples and brown sugar. The taste is of Christmas cake, chocolate brownies and yellow plums. The finish is quite long and again sweet.
