The Macallan transports new oak from America thousands of kilometers to Spain, where the casks are crafted and seasoned with sherry, before being transported to the distillery in Speyside, where they are filled and aged for at least 12 years. These whiskeys are then harmoniously blended with whiskeys aged in exceptional European oak casks seasoned with sherry. The delicate aroma of American oak - vanilla, citrus and light oak - stands out, while the traditional character of Macallan's European oak - dried fruit and wood spices - provides a familiar backdrop.
