The Macallan transports new American oak thousands of miles to Spain, where the casks are crafted and seasoned with sherry, before being transported to the distillery in Speyside, where they are filled and aged for at least 12 years. These whiskies are then harmoniously combined with whiskies aged in exceptional European oak casks seasoned with sherry. The delicate aroma of American oak - vanilla, citrus, and light oak - stands out, while the traditional character of Macallan European oak - dried fruits and woody spices - provides a familiar backdrop.
